post-exam post (ahaha!)

by squido

So between making myself some lunch; reheating last night’s dinner, this morning’s breakfast and two slices of wholemeal bread, I randomly decided I’d take a shower. So I left my poor excuse for a lunch in the microwave and took off upstairs to gather my clothes.

I had many shower revelations today, such as why people find blogging much easier than talking to other people directly, the right kind of attitude towards life’s successes and failures, and why you should love your mother.

I don’t think I’ll go into much detail here about any of those, but I just want to say that life, love, vitality, and all the good stuff as encapsulated effectually by Dylan Moran in his “human-thought-process analogy/re-enactment” (sorry, you won’t find videos under those keywords, but I know what I’m talking about – just ask and I’ll try find the YouTube link for you again J), exist everywhere, and you’ll know when you find it, just like you’ll realise that you’ve been sitting on the lumpy pile of bird poop you initially aimed to avoid… eventually J In other words:

Enlightenment is not only something which one seeks to attain throughout one’s life – it is the journey towards it. This in itself renders Enlightenment unattainable, but in a way, we already do enjoy the fruits of the human world in which we live. We just have to know it when we see it.

Aaaand then you just insert any other appropriate moral or value in place of “Enlightenment” and you get your generic (but true!) life-long proverb! :D For example, “happiness,” “life,” “richness,” “Soul,” and “a boyfriend,” just for starters ;D

Well, I guess that’s all for today. I’d better eat that food I re-heated before it gets cold and I’ll have to re-re-heat it. Plus I have some Wakatta! to catch up on, and more anime to watch kekeke~

——

Oh yeah and one more thing! I’ve decided to move my lengthier, more personal posts to http://squidwords.wordpress.com/ which I once tried to get into but didn’t get very far (about 3 posts in, one log and two on random but interesting facts) as a testimony to my awesome, bubbly, bright, light-hearted, fun-loving, humorous, (Clam: [in a sarcastic tone] and don’t forget MODEST! =D) and changing, personality! (Yeah, don’t bag out on me I was cramming some last-minute vocabulary for my Japanese exams today x])

じゃ、今日はこれで!~ みんあさん、気をつけて!

Well, that’s all for today! ~ Everybody, take care!

heaps of fun :D

i spent nearly 12 hs in the city today, about 10 with michael and 8 with cloudier x)

busked, earned about $8 and a small bottle of mount franklin, gave the water to a woman begging for money for food/DRINK, and $1.55 to a pregnant woman also in the tunnel, found by mic sitting opposite a small army of falun meditators (?) in belmore park, found a more quiet spot in dampish shade where we played random songs and smokers came by and sat and secretly listened and i coughed a bit and the lady who complimented us went away D: then this hobo with red pants came by and took a wee at a nearby tree, then came and sat down with us and asked for a song by the eagles which we didn’t know so i played him “she’s electric” and he hi-fived us and went away and mic and i ran away and found a bathroom near capitol [which wasn’t near capitol at all] to wash our hands after trying not to touch anything and we headed towards market city where i tried to do bag-shopping with mic for a backpack for school and ended up buying a nice blue cotton/spandex tank at giordano and after that we shared a lychee + grape jelly easy way and cloudier came and we went to galaxy world where i failed standard drumming and did all right at beginners [i owe cloudier 2 swipes/$4] and mic’s ddr drew a small crowd which disappeared right after he failed the round [he was stomping on those arrows like a furious madman… some nice tautology there] and i bumped into serena from jenesys who was there for a friend’s birthday! i want to get my own card on a triple tuesday some tuesday… then we left and went around shopping and i went back to giordano and made a new friend April [haha it’s her month, geddit ahaha] and discovered that we both sang and played guitar [except she was in a “real band” with reggae masters] so we exchanged mobile numbers and i said i’d follow her concerts up at kingsford and she gave me an extra discount so i would buy this jumper i really really really wanted [but wasn’t certain mum would be happy with] which says “TWO THUMBS UP” on the front so i bought it any way for $36 and we were hungry by 2-ish so we went to ramen-kan where i tried to ask for a discount if i got the teppanomuraisu [teppan rice omelet] without salad and ended up saying a lot in jap [like sarada] but then half-way through our delicious meal i realised i had asked for the price to be more kind/gentler rather than cheaper [oops] and mic was recovering his tongue from the burns of his chili tonkatsu-ish thing, and cloudier was wondering why she bought so much, and then i filled my green bottle with the remaining jug water and we left for karaoke but ended up walking through the markets near chinatown where we saw various interesting things on sale, a lot of people snacking on those fried potato spring/coils, and i somehow convinced cloudier to buy a pair of zipper earrings for $10 by reminding her that her ears were not pierced… and we lost cloud for a bit and mic and i discovered one of those statue guys and he REALLY RESEMBLED MR WILSON, especially when he tapped someone on the shoulder and they turned around but he pulled a straight “it-wasn’t-me” face that was REALLY LIKE MR WILSON, so i went up to him at gave him 50c and tried to take a slip of paper from him, but he wouldn’t let me have it like i saw him do with the others, so i held out my hand and he shoved his cheek in my face and i was like “but you’re too tall!” so he bent down and when i tried to kiss him on the cheek, complaining that i’d get silver lips, he turned right at the end and I ENDED UP HALF-KISSING HIM ON THE LIPS OMGOSH i think everyone there except michael saw it sheesh and he REALLY RESEMBLED MR WILSON which was awkward. i finally got the slip of paper that said: “A man who always steps in the footprints of others, Doesnt leave some of his own. Armin Becker” so i guess that makes me special. but still. mr wilson. i don’t think i’ll be able to see him in the same way again now. we escaped via the market city entrance and tried going for karaoke again but this time we ended up at norita where mic and cloudier, both stuffed, bought an ice cream coffee and hot chocolate drink respectively, and we tried to play cluedo which completely failed because the cards in play doubled up and none of us could figure out the guest/weapon/room [the shop assistants even gave us two board game sets so we could grab any missing pieces – there was no rope in either but i incidentally found a folded scrap of paper with “ROPE” written on it so we used that instead] and now we know how to play! we unanimously decided we needed to relieve the stress and frustration of cluedo with karaoke so we finally headed there and it was 18:30 already and the 3hr session was the one that came with a free drink, so i somehow managed to ask my mum to let me stay in the city until about just before 9, then about 9, then maybe even 9:30, and with the aid of mic and cloud’s virtual support it somehow worked and she was cool to pick me up THAT LATE so we rejoiced and waited down, around, and back outside because all the rooms were full !! it was the most epic karaoke ever since none of us really minded what song was played as long as it was interesting, and nobody got really PO’d which was a first for me for k so we were all being a bit crazy with the singing and mic sounded like he was absolutely murdering his voice [which i hope he wasn’t] and even cloud managed to introduce us to a new singer “florence” which i must remember to check out. i need to work on harmonising – it just doesn’t come as naturally anymore somehow, but even though we probably sounded terrible as i went through my phases of guttural, screamo, grunge, opera and just weird, it was hilarious and mum entered 30 mins too early and got kicked out by the karaoke place assistants, which i was actually thankful for because that was when “the best of you” came on and i just lost it ahaha i love that song. i love the foo fighters. and cloudier and mic loved big echo because it actually had REAL MUSIC VIDEOS [oh my gosh!] because for some reason a lot of k places don’t… i owe cloudier $15.

badminton – yaiy!

by squido

today, i found myself awake at 06:00.

did so much maths this morning D: i’ve used up about 11 loose-leafs and i’m still only three-quarters of the way through… that mrs briggs…

i went to badminton at 15:02 8D at the north ryde “russell” club, as mum likes to call it [for those that can’t tell, she meant to say “RSL”]

badminton, despite what i had previously believed, is a very, VERY aggressive sport.

it also turns out to be very bad for previously-operated-on knees.

to emphasise my former point: the girls play like boys, the boys play like men, and the men play like monsters.

the women tend to be craftier, and sorer when they miss.

the rules are pretty whacky; this is what i learned so far:

1. play until 21. if the score is 20-20, play until 22, and so forth.

2. to start the game, someone says “kai shi/begin” and hits the shuttlecock randomly so that the head points to the starting team. if that hasn’t happened yet, you’re in practice mode. so pay attention.

3. the score is vital to determining to serves and from where. if your team [doubles] is on an even score, the player in the right half serves. to serve, stand as close to the net so that the moment of service is within the boundary line before the net, then proceed to hit upwards. the first serve must land in the vertically opposite portion of the opponents’ court – the boundaries are the entire width, the cropped length [minus the end and the bit closest to the net]. so pay attention.

4. during the game [after the serve], all of the court is in.

5. a loss is when the receiving team misses and it lands in their court, when they fail to hit the shuttlecock over the net, the shuttlecock fails to land in the court. also, a loss is when the serving team fails to serve correctly. when a loss occurs, possession changes and the score determines who serves and from where. so pay attention.

6. do not talk or ask questions when serving. pay attention.

7. when the serving team wins consecutive rounds, the person serving remains the same, but the two players on that side switch halves every consecutive serve. if you weren’t paying attention, follow the more-experienced player. if that’s you, look like you know what you’re doing even if you don’t.

8. hit as hard and far as you can. reflexes are very HANDY.

9. “hao qiu/good ball” is often said after a good serve/return.

10. bring a change of clothes if a shower is available. and a towel. and heaps of water.

yeah i just thought 10 would look better than 9. but you sweat A LOT. so do NOT wear jeans. [i didn’t wear jeans. i’m just saying.]

more maths to do…

toodle-doo!

perfection takes time

by bezzle

I have no homework.  Nothing, except to work on history extension.  I am so confused right now.  Surely there’s some massive project due in two days, or a hidden avalanche of homework somewhere.

wait yes there’s my maths

But anyway, have a proper blogpost, where I actually relay what happened in my life today, unlike the posts for the past year or so.

Today was OZCLO nationals, and at recess off we went to Macquarie University!  After a caffeine/sugar stop at Macquarie Centre, we headed off to campus and found the building, then realised we had no idea what room the competition was in.    Eventually we found our teacher/he found us, and we found ourselves in a small room, the eight of us (two teams) with four rowdy North Sydney girls.

All I can remember for the first half-hour was loud conversation, loud, loud and irritation.  And utter frustration at the second question.

Thanks to Emily, Jenny and Dodo yay still in awe about coming first in state eeeeeee it’s a pleasure being on your team.

For some reason I went back to school for Extension History and it wasn’t as soporific as usual and I think I shall have to defer my poster-buying to tomorrow.

Wow reading my post bored myself.
