After receiving threats from both of my parents forcing me to use only my government-issued laptop, I have begun to realise the stupidity of blocked websites.

Okay, no one likes the DET block.  I get that.  But I don’t get why stuff like email and blogs are blocked.  Especially hotmail.  Heck, I guess we struck it lucky that gmail isn’t blocked.  And blogs.  Even visiting one isn’t allowed.

I never really cared so much, until the aforementioned threat.  HOW WOULD I BLOG TO YOU MASSES OUT THERE?  What is the worst part is the underhanded way our teachers, at the information night last year, planted the idea that these laptops would be enough for all our computer needs.  Please.  Filtered internet in our own homes?

At my friend’s all girl school, the internet isn’t even blocked.  AT ALL.  My point is, I think we do need filtered internet, but some things should be unblocked.  For convenience.  Especially when it tempts people into the area of teachers’ accounts and stuff.

A random fact that shall be noted here: record time from getting up to leaving house is now fifteen minutes.

OOOHH there was a song I was going to embed here, but it’s not on youtube, so I will just tell you the name here:

Summer nights, by Vanessa Amorosi

It’s so nostalgic, I like the chorus.

This morning was weird.  Had to get up early to finish off a thousand words for ag assignment, so I set the alarm for 6:15.  Woke up randomly and decided to get up anyway.  Reached for the clock, it breaks as I press the light button to see the time.  I look at the clock outside, it says 6:16.

Today was beach excursion!  I didn’t get to touch the water though…PSSSHHH what is the point of going to the beach then?!  It was at Collaroy.  Very nice view on the walk up to the top, and a lovely refreshing cool sea breeze~  view up the top was great AND sydo has a new nickname – squishy?

Hehehehehe what an awesome nickname.

Our tour guide was pretty cool, did we even get to know his name?  Attempted to find our school on a massive map was very fail.  And then the walk down from the top was even more fun/refreshing.

Ehhh the rest of the day can be summed up with one word: SAND

i shall try and get some photos from ben/make him post them up himself.  he definitely has a lot of them.

Ethics? Morals?

by car.

Our blog is going pretty lazy right now… i should post up something about musical… but i reeli cbb. there’s only a few interesting things about it anyway xD

2. LMAO at the sound effect on friday night – it was supposed to be a ricochetting bullet sound, but the s&l ppl accidently made it into a car-revving sound xDD so it was like… *clicks fake gun in air* VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!

3. the random hyper yr 7 girl!! omgosh, at the food fair (which was overpriced and sorta a fail) this girl – i found out her name was Holly – came up to me and started gushing ‘OMGOSH HIIIIIIIII!!!!’ i gave her a withering wtheck look, and she was like ‘omgosh, soooo sorry!! i thought u were somebody else.. bye!!’      i thought that was the end of it, but she came back THREE MORE TIMES to say ‘HIIII HEIDI!!!!’     WTHECK?!?! MY NAME IS NOT HEIDI!  (I DO NOT COME FROM YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL! geez, sandra’s stalking-ness is totally rubbing off on me :S) at least it’s a nice name tho. cept it reminds everyone of germany/switzerland, mountains, pigtails and sheep >.>  carmen  Heidi the Shepherdess. great.

oh yeah, so that thing about ethics and morals. havent we always learnt in pe and history and english etc, that our values/morals/attitudes are influenced by our education, background, culture, status etc??? Of course, wat im talking about refers to our laptops. the charter we signed was so vague. there was no clear line between wat was right and wat was wrong. heck, i didnt even know that using other ppls’ accounts was identity theft. of course, i know that using a teacher’s account to access certain websites was ‘wrong’, but wat about if you were given permission? and we werent supposed to use our own internet accounts on other ppl’s laptops either. how is that ‘wrong’?? it wasnt in our charter. if it was, i dont remember.

i think the best way to move forward now, is to introduce a program that will explain to us the exact boundary between wat we can do on our laptops, and wat we cant. wat’s illegal, and wat’s not. coz half the ppl who did something ‘wrong’ on their laptops, had no idea that it was wrong. like the identity theft thing.

and wat’s ‘wrong’ for one person, might be ‘right’ or ‘ok’ for another.

the emotions of ppl around me affect my own. like when my sister gets pissed, i do too. we both stomp around the house and have a grey cloud surrounding us. when i see my friends happy, i am too (altho i might not necessarily show it, since i might be ‘conserving energy’; ie. stoning xD).

so when ben and geoff were arguing today in science, i got pretty upset. i hate conflict. i dont know why. i cringe when teachers start yelling at us in class. maybe thats why i dont like our commerce sub, coz he cant control us, and he uses random techniques to try to get our attention, like keeping us in for lunches, making us rip out a piece of paper, scrunch it up, then chuck it into the bin… wtheck?!!, and making us sign a stupid contract, which says we werent allowed to talk, misuse laptop, listen to music, watch videos, play games, wander around the classroom, breathe.

i shall hereby stop ranting (:

OH but b4 i do, i have something to say… a small sentence that has a BIG IMPACT!

here goes….

sorry sun, i WAS gonna take a piccy of that cool rubber band and blog it, but it was very very blurry =( oh yeah, so for those who dont know, sun wrote ‘vain’ on a piece of stretched-out rubber band like, 20 times… when it sprung back to it’s normal size, all you can see are vertical lines :DD it’s epicly awesome xD

i have a new laptop. it is an inspiron 1545, from dell, very cheap.

because i spent this evening in biology and setting stuff up on this laptop, i am expecting a fail mark for my in-class essay that i will be writing tomorrow.

which is why i’m blogging now.

this is the laptop end of the power cord…thing. it glows blue when in use.

the keyboard is rather strange.

instead of having F1-F12, there are keys with functions like turning on/off wifi, changing brightness and changing volume. F1-F12 is accessed by holding the Fn and a key with a blue label – terribly inconvenient.

i have fiddiculty spelling inconvenient.

and available.

and receive.

here is a picture of lian with a paper box hat and black paint on his arm instead.

a post long overdue from me (:

uh, where to start?  nothing really blog-worthy.  but don’t worry, i have NO intention of ditching this.

the week since i’ve blogged, it’s been hectic. but that’s no excuse, right?

today i got sunburnt even though i put on sunscreen and wore a hat.

  – wait, i’m not actually burnt!  that’s good

today i realised how nice people are, if you’re brave enough to talk to them.

today i had a random set of coincidences.  speak of the devil!

i was just outside in the backyard folding the clothes when i noticed this blue fly.  gorgeous iridiscent blue, like midnight blue, just a little lighter than navy blue, and shiny green stripes.  it looked like a fly, but much prettier.  i sat down to observe it and another one came along and they started doing this mating dance, i think?  so they flew around each other, like they were the same poles on a magnet, and one would keep on flying away a bit, and the other one always chased back after it.  but then the other one didn’t come back.  ): so i went back to folding the clothes again.  and then the other one came back again, and they did the mating dance again, but closer.  and then the other one flew away again, and hasn’t came back since me typing this up.

managed to scab a ride to school from dad.  tried to catch up on maths homework, but gave up to study for maths test, oh dear.  forgot that i left my laptop charging in our usual roll call room after victor forgot his somewhere else.  leanne and sharon are scary good at drama, and the ironic thing is that they both don’t do it.  i know you hear it a lot guys, but it’s true!

i’ll just skip over the maths test…

agriculture was dodgy.  but we aren’t supposed to use that word, right?  shoddy, then.  i found a pair of ikea scissors in the grass.  our teacher took us down to the furtherest part of orchard, and it was so suss.  i agree with sydo when he started clearing away the leaf matter, that it looked like we were gravediggers.

lunch was funny.

you guys are such bludgers in science, seriously.
